The Barbara and William B. Thalhimer, Jr. Religious School provides preschool through high school Jewish Education. Pre-School through 7th grade has a lively, scholarly, engaging curriculum, written in-house, of the weekly Torah portion, Hebrew, Prayer, Jewish Knowledge, History, Thought,  Ethics and Israel. Designed as a five year spiral curriculum, the whole school learns the same curriculum each week in a way appropriate  to each  the grade level. This curriculum in written to promote Jewish knowledge, critical thinking  and ethical discussion.  Many Sundays include special holiday celebrations  and social programming for adults and students.

Teens 8th-10th grade meet on Monday Night and learn in a relaxed and more adult format. Eighth graders engage in a You be the Judge discussion of ethical questions. Ninth and tenth graders explore Jewish lifecycle and ritual, what it means to be a young Jewish adult and prepare for Confirmation. See below for more information. 

 

Schedule: The Barbara and William B. Thalhimer, Jr. Religious School for grades Preschool-7 meets during the school year from September through early May on Sunday mornings, from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. Our eighth through tenth graders meet collectively on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:35 p.m. 

Religious School programs are open to all members of Congregation Beth Ahabah.  If you are interested in enrolling your child please fill out our online Registration Form on ShulCloud, as well as the CBA RS Allergy Action Plan if needed. Have the Allergy Action Plan signed by your physician and return it to the Temple office.  

 

BEIT MIDRASH FOR TEENS

What you need to know:

  • Mondays at 6:30pm to 8:35pm (with dinner beforehand!)
  • REGISTER TODAY for 8th to 10th grade, which begins on the evening of Monday, October 10th.

What Else?

  • Three times a year, teens will select a fun First Period elective that will run 6 weeks. Electives are either exclusively for teens or intergenerational electives. (The teens will choose their elective the first night of each 6 week session)
  • 11th and 12th Grade: Enjoy a FREE Once per Month Monday Night drop-in program which includes a fun activity and conversations on the topic of how to be a young Jew in the world with our Programs Manager, Sarah Roper.
