Shabbat Services

Shabbat evening services at Beth Ahabah are open to members and visitors alike.  Our prayer book, or siddur, is the newest version of the Reform movement's, Mishkan T'filah, and we encourage active congregational participation.  Our music covers the broad spectrum of styles from contemporary to Classical.  There is almost always a Torah service.  An Oneg Shabbat, an opportunity for refreshments and socializing, follows every service.

Approximately one service a month is a Family Worship Service which is more informal and features our youth choir.

Also approximately once a month we have a "Torah Talk, " as part of the Shabbat service.  During the Torah reading and sermon portion of the service, the Temple's Director of Education and a Religious School teacher lead a parallel educational program for elementary school-aged children in the Gumenick Chapel.  The Children return to the sanctuary for the conclusion or the service.

From September to June, Friday evening services are held in the main Sanctuary at 7:30 P.M.  During the summer months, services are held in the Gumenick Chapel at 6:30 P.M.

There are Shabbat morning servies only when there is a Bar/Bat Mitzvah scheduled.

Jewish Holidays

Beth Ahabah holds special services and other activities to mark the Jewish Holidays. These programs reflect the appropriate tone for each occasion ranging from the High Holy Days to a Congregational Seder at Passover, to parties at Chanukah, to plays and performances at Purim.

Yom Kippur Family Service

Music

The congregation takes pride in its wonderful music program under the direction of our Cantor.  Members are encouraged to join the Adult Choir while children are welcome to participate in the Youth Choir. Both ensembles regularly participate in Shabbat and holiday services, and we periodically host a wide variety of guest musicians.  Directors: Cantor Annie L. Bornstein & Natan Berenshteyn

The choir is open to all members of Beth Ahabah and no "auditions" are necessary. Just come, sing and have a blast!!!
